The New Society in New Media in The Era of Democracy

In the era of Democracy, we (as public) are able to smell something fresh in our beloved country, Indonesia. What things that able to make us feel fresh in the newest system like democracy? Those things are, freedom of giving opinion through any mass media and freedom of the press. As we know, we have been indoctrinated by the goverment during the era of New Order (in Indonesia : Orde Baru). We have been indoctrinated that the policies of government were always right. In addition, we have never been given a chance to give criticism about the government and the policies. Ironically, the government also controlled the flow of information from mass media. The controlling of information (through mass media) was managed by the Mr. Soeharto and Departemen Penerangan. At that time, the content of the news from mass media was controlled by Departemen Penerangan. Yep, most of the news that we widely accepted is about the triumph of their policies. We were scarcely given about the negative things of government and policies. After controlling this country for 32 years, public were united to resist by holding a huge of demonstrations in all over Indonesia. Many demonstrations were held by college students, activists, and politicians at every level of society. I still remember that many chaos happened in every demonstration. And finally, Soeharto took off his duty as the president of Indonesia and then he was substituted by Mr. BJ. Habibie. We continously entered the door of new era, called by Era Reformasi, from 1998 until now. In Era Reformasi, we are able to feel the fresh smell of Democracy. This is indicated from freedom of the press and freedom of giving opinion.

Freedom of the press and giving opinion

Literally, press is the fourth pillar in democracy. This fact can be proven from many mass media grow up gradually in the end of 1998-1999. Entering the new period of 2000, mass media started to give something critical and skeptical about the government and the policies. There are almost no revocation and domination of the press by the government. If there were a little bit of revocation or domination of the press, the news would still be appeared critically. I guarantee for this.

Why do the press grow up freely and critically? Because of the system in Democracy. Democracy has been pushing the society, the press, and the government, to think, to speak, and to act critically. This means freedom of giving opinion. Speaking of this, the rule of giving opinion has been written in pasal 28 Undang-Undang Dasar 1945 and Undang-Undang Pers Nomor 40 Tahun 1999. That is why most of us are being more critical than most of us are in New Order. That is why many mass media are being more critical than mass media are in New Order. Moreover, we are able to show off our critical thinking through mass media. As Juergen Habermas said that mass media always will be the public sphere for public either in a democracy country or a non-democracy country. Yup, mass media always will be the watchdog of government and the public sphere for the society. Yet, mass media (newspaper, magazine, television, and radio) shall face and follow the flow of globalization, this includes how mass media could adapt with the improvement of technology in order to provide a lot of empty spheres for the society, due to the role of mass media as a public sphere.

The exist of social media networking sites

As a matter of fact, we all were faced by the improvement of technology during the 21st century. We aren't able to avoid any improvements of technology, especially for technology communication, e.g. internet, blackberry, Ipad, and many more. The improvement of technology communication brings the society all over the world to get closer with informations. The improvement of technology communication brings the society all over the world to keep updated and to keep connected with informations. And one thing for sure, the improvement of technology communication brings the society all over the world to react and to criticize either any kinds of policy or any kinds of government.

One easiest way that how we use the technology communication for giving critisism is by using the internet. By using the internet, we are able to talk, discuss, and share about what we thought. Moreover, currently, we find many free facilities (through the internet) to post our critical thinking. Those free facilities are called by social media networking sites. How many social media networking sites that have been provided for us? Social media networking sites are getting many more and more, such as facebook, twitter, multiply, and any sorts of. Can you imagine that how many people in the world use all those social media networking sites in every day? I think, almost all humans in the world use social media networking sites to support their life needs, especially in terms of our right to get information as many as possible.

The civilization of human has already changed. Human needs the improvement of technology communication to support their life. Human needs the internet to make their life more efficiency and more practical. Human needs social media networking sites to describe about what they thought into the words. One thing, for sure, Human believes that social media networking sites have fully strength to change the world. In social media networking sites, human are united to be – what we called by – mass society or public. Therefore, public comes recently as the new society in the new media.

According to the passage above, the new society has emerged which accompanied by social media networking sites as the new media. The new media has unexpected characteristics and unexpected functions in every aspect of life. One of unexpected characteristics is critical public. The more critical our society, the more loudly we speak, through social media sites. The more loudly we speak, the more changes we get. Besides an unexpected characteristic, the new media also produced unexpected functions. An unexpected function will always be appearing in the changes of mass media, including the exist of social media networking sites. Like two concepts that given by Robert K. Merton (one of sociologist), these two concepts are manifest function and latent function. Manifest function is an expected function that arise from the change. Whereas, latent function is an unexpected function that arise from the change.

One of unexpected functions is many policies had been canceled because of our voices and our opinions in the new media. This means, sometimes we need talking too much on every social media networking sites, because mass media will help to highlight our voices to the government. And many policies had been canceled because of our voices on social media networking sites. Guys, do you still remember about Bibit-Chandra’s Case? Prita Mulyasari’s Case? Dana Aspirasi’s Case? these facts show that our voices (on social media networking sites) will be giving much influences to the making process of any policies. The example cases (such as Bibit-Chandra’s Case, Prita Mulyasari’s Case, and Dana Aspirasi’s Case) describe how the new society can change and refuse either the government or the policies through social media networking sites. By giving voices on social media networking sites, we don't judge the government negatively, we only express voice of the voiceless.

1. Bagian utara, kota Bima berbatasan dengan Kecamatan Ambalawi dan Kabupaten Bima;

2. Bagian selatan, kota Bima berbatasan dengan Kecamatan Palibelo dan Kabupaten Bima;

3. Bagian barat, kota Bima berbatasan langsung dengan teluk Bima;

Amin.

Jadi, tunggu apalagi?

So plain and flat, huh?

Namun, hidupnya tidak sedatar yang dibayangkan. Fluktuatif. Perempuan ini senang sekali menggambarkan bahwa my life is flat, fluctuate yet.

Dyane feels her life look like the waves in the sea

Jeleknya Dyane, ia teramat polos.

a complaining post

I realize that everybody has their problems. I realize that everybody has difficulty level on their problems. I know that I have to be strong, tough, and mature to face all shit things in my life. I know that I shouldn't have to complain for every problem that comes to my life. I know that I have to be thankful for everything from Allah. For million times, there's only one thing that I want to do, I want to share all my thoughts, I want to complain all my shit things, I want to ask all my questions, and I want to be listened by someone either with my best friends or my another family member. All I need is someone or anyone who wants to listen my sad songs. All I need is sharing with someone or anyone who wants to listen my trashy sad stories. I'm not a drama queen. I never hope that I would find a happiness like in a romantic tale story. I never hope that my life would be wonderful like every princess in the world. I never hope that my life would be a happy ending story like cinderella. Dear Allah, I want to live with simple living, even though there would be many problems, at least I want to be listened by anyone who wants to listen my trashy sad stories.

A letter to my sister

To my beloved sister,
Since we were kid, I've believed that we would build a good friendship like all people do with their sister or brother.
Since we were kid, I've promised with myself to protect you from crimes and dangers in my whole life.
Since we were kid, I've told to myself that I would be a good sister and a role model for you.

I'm sure, no matter how big the storm hit either you or our family, you would stand up with your own feet.
I'm sure, no matter how big the rock hit either you or our family, you would say : "I'm still strong".
I'm sure, no matter how big the storm hit either you or our family, you would prove that you are fine as much as you can.
I'm sure, no matter how big the rock hit either you or our family, you would keep smiling, laughing, and also doing something fun yet useful.

This afternoon, I saw you that you couldn't stop laughing with me and our parents..
This afternoon, I saw you that you couldn't stop smiling to anyone around you..

This afternoon, I saw you that you couldn't stop eating something delicious..
This afternoon, I saw you that you couldn't stop acting very spoiled to us..
This afternoon, I saw you that you couldn't stop playing Scrabble with me..
This afternoon, I saw you that you didn't want to miss any seconds or any minutes with us.. This afternoon, I saw you that you didn't let me to be the winner at Scrabble.. (hehehe)

Well, this is not a poem, this is only what's on my mind, and this is my thought at this time.. Always be peaceful with love!

He's Just Not That Into You

"Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bangs and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, Every story we're told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don't, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave. And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe... it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is... just... moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this, knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never gave up hope.." --- by Gigi

The passage above is a quote which is taken from He's Just Not That Into You. This quote is given by Gigi after she won the game of love with Alex, and she became his exception. I never feel bored to see every scene in that movie for million times. He's Just Not That Into You is a good with movie with suprising plot, stories, and ideas about love. We're all taught not only about the definition of love, but also how to play the game of love, including who will be the role and who will be the exception of its game. This movie knows what men want and what women want. I'm sure you guys have watched this movie, haven't you? I don't mean to recommend, but it's another side of myself to show off how great the movie is.

a great short conversation

I had a great short conversation last night with someone. Here is..

Me : I never imagine when I will be married by someone, because I don't want marry with
someone early. I have to consider all things, not only love to share with someone, but also
our thought, vision, mission, money, and many others. I'm not ready at all for a marriage.

Him: Me too, i've to finish my study, insya Allah next year. And then, I've to look for a job, I
should have much money to propose someone. I don't want to marry someone if I still
still don't have any money. We have to live logically and realistic, not in a dream. In the
past, I used to play in every day, now I didn't want to play anymore. Because I'm getting
older and i want to be the leader in my family.

Actually, there are many topics that we talked about last night. And what I wrote above is the best part conversation that I love. Anyway, nice to meet you, nice to talk with you! :)

a bit touch editing

1) Karin, Didiet, and me sat in front of gold bullion at Museum Bank Indonesia

2) Dodi and Didiet photographed themselves

3) Hanum had a bowl of frozen yoghurt yesterday

4) Froyo as our snack in yesterday evening

5) My parents were photographed by my sister

Recently, I'm interested in editing photos by using adobe photoshop. I don't know why I love editing photos by now. I'm not an expert of photography like my little sister. Fanny, my little sister, is very good at taking pictures and editing photos. I'm proud of her. I do love being a photographer, even though all my photos are not good as hers. I also love being an object who will be captured by the camera. Well, talking about my new interest, i want to show all the photos which has been edited by myself. Leave your comment, please!

I hate being left by my best friends

Saya paling benci kehilangan seseorang. Dulu, saya pernah ditinggal sahabat saya, Mega. Dia pergi ninggalin saya bukan karena dia jahat sama saya. Tetapi dia menuntut ilmu di kota kelahirannya para filsuf dunia, seperti Immanuel Kant dan Karl Marx. Ya, tepat sekali. Mega beralih ingin menginjakkan kakinya di Jerman. Saya lupa persisnya tahun berapa dia meninggalkan tanah air. Kalau tidak salah 2006 atau 2007. Tapi, saya sedih sekali pada malam hari menjelang kepergiannya.
this is me and mega

this is me and dian

I hate being left by my bestfriends. Because it's not easy for me to call my friend as best friend. Because it's not easy to find some people who can be trusted as best friend. Because it's not easy to tell our problem to other people than to our best friend. Because other people are not honest as our best friend. Who doesn't hate the situation like this? I'm the one who does. But, this is how life is supposed to be. In our whole life, we'll meet with many people with their different personalities. However, we never forget our bestfriend indeed . And i think, perhaps it's the best choice for them to be a success woman. I'll be proud of my bestfriends who could be success in the future. One day, we'll meet again by bringing our goals and achievements. Amin.

Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep is one of my favorite actress. I adore her since Meryl Streep starred in The Devil Wears Prada by 2006. The Devil Wears Prada is a drama romance yet a bit of comedy movie. In The Devil Wears Prada, I was amazed by her as the executive editor in Runway fashion magazine. She looks so sophisticated.

In 2008, I was amazed by her in Mamma Mia! Even if Mamma Mia! is a musical movie and this movie is dedicated for those who are big fans of ABBA, but i don't mind, i always love to see Meryl Streep! In Mamma Mia!, Meryl Streep plays as a mother of Sophie who is about to be married by a young Greek man (huh, i forget his name!). Without telling her mother, Sophie invites three men who could be her father, they are Harry, Bill, and Sam. One point i love to see from this movie is the scenery of Greek Island, sooo pretty, also beautiful!

Recently, i watched Meryl Streep in Julie and Julia. Julie and Julia is a biography drama comedy movie. This movie is based on true stories which is from two books, the books are My Life in France (Julia Child's autobiography) and Julie & Julia (a memoir which is written by Julie Powell). She plays as Julia Child, a real-life character. This movie tells about Julia's and Julie's life. In 1949, Julia as the wife of a diplomat, wonders how to spend her days. Julia decides to have a cooking course in Cordon Bleu. She starts cooking until she is a master of cooking then published her book with her friends. This book is "Mastering The Art of Cooking". In 2002, Julie Powell, a young housewife who doesn't have a passion with her job, tries to cook all the recipes from "Mastering The Art of Cooking" in a year then publish it in a blog "The Julie/Julia Project" (do you want to see julie's blog?click here). In short, the similarity among Julia and Julie is a good housewife with a great ability to cook, because every woman must be good at cooking to be loved by their husbands.

Guys, from three movies above, there is a similiarity about Meryl Streep. The similiarity is Meryl Streep is always paired with the new young actresses. In The Devil Wears Prada, Anne Hathaway is paired with Meryl Streep, Anne plays as the asisstant of Meryl. Then, In Mamma Mia!, Amanda Seyfried is paired with Meryl Streep as her daughter. Same as the previous movies, Meryl Streep is paired with Amy Adams, although they are never in one frame. So, who will be the next actress to be paired with Meryl Streep? We'll wait and we'll see another Meryl Streep movie! :)

The Ramen Girl and Brittany Murphy

Few days ago, like our routine in the weekend, my sister and i always spend the holiday or weekend by watching some movies at home. A movie that we have chosen to rent was The Ramen Girl. The Ramen Girl tells about Abby (Brittany Murphy), an aimless child of privilege, comes to Tokyo to be with her boyfriend, who promptly leaves for Osaka. I can't believe how dare her boyfriend leaves Abby alone in Tokyo.

Abby wants to stay in Tokyo in hoping her boyfriend will come back to her, but she's miserable in Tokyo. Abby can't speak Japanese properly and she always speaks by using English, not Japanese! Abby has a boring job as a law-firm gopher. One night, she came in to the ramen shop which is very close to her flat. When she was arriving at there, she cried and told to the owner of the ramen shop. And you know what, she cried and told by using English! not Japanese! Of course, the owner didn't know what to do because both of them didn't understand any English words. Sounds soo silly, isn't it?

The owner of the ramen shop is a couple. They are the aging master chef Maezumi and his wife Reiko. His soup cheers Abby up, so she decides to apprentice herself to him. He's not interested with Abby at all, but Abby is still insistent, so he shouts at her and gives her all the cleaning work to do. Weeks go by. She's persistent. She is trying to do her best to prove that she can make a bowl of ramen. Abby is still trying to prove in order to chef Maezumi will teach how to make a delicious ramen for the customer. Is she able to prove that she deserve to be the next generation of chef Maezumi?

Well, i can't say how the ending part of this movie. I won't say on my post, so you all have curiousity to watch The Ramen Girl. I'll continue to tell about another part of this movie. The Ramen Girl teaches us about how to survive and do the best for our work, so we can get the money and we can live happily because we love our job. The Ramen Girl is released on October 2008, one year before the main cast died on December 2009. Ya, i'm talking about Brittany Murphy. For your info, in this movie, Brittany Murphy is the only one actress from Hollywood among the Japanese actor also actress. So, this movie is unique and funny. Unique, because Brittany (as Hollywood actress) plays as the servant of Japanese to help their ramen shop. Abby must learn about their Japan language and their culture to be suit around them. Funny, because of Brittany's act in this movie. Unfortunately, we can't see her act again. Besides The Ramen Girl, she has starred in many movies, for example: Happy Feet, Just Married, Uptown Girls, Tinker Bell, and many more. A young and talented actress has died on December 2009. May God always keep her in a rest peace. amin.

Bye, brittany, we love you!

Soulmate

Before i start telling what i'll write in my blog at this moment, i'm thinking for a while: "should i tell you all about soulmate?". I'm a bit ashamed to talk about someone will be called by myself as soulmate. Ok, where do i start?

Couple days ago, i met with one of my college friends, she is Nova. She told me that she is being proposed by someone. Wow, i was sooo happy and glad to listen her story about being proposed by a great man. When she told about the man (who proposes her to be his wife), i was wondering the man must be lucky to propose nova, so did Nova. I saw her excitement from her face. I saw her happiness from a slow tempo that she uses to tell. I also was excited to listen every part of her story about being proposed. Because, i have never felt how exactly my feeling for being proposed by someone. But, I think, If I were being proposed by the right man, I would be very blissful, full of happiness, and i couldn't describe my feeling by using any words.

On that day, i spent some hours with Nova by sharing lot of stories. It was such a great day to share lot of stories. But, there was a question (from Nova) which is i hate enough to answer. Soory to say, nov. She asked me, "when will you have a boyfriend?or partner?". At that time, i had realized one thing that all my besties already have their right men to be their boyfriend first, not partner in life. And one thing that i realize is all my besties are very affectionate to take care of me, including Nova. All my besties are never bored to ask me about my future partner or who my boyfriend is at right now. Perhaps, i'm getting bored to be asked by everyone.

I don't know when i will have the right man to be my boyfriend firstly. Because of my past, i'm a bit careful to choose which one is the best man to be with me, or which one is the most suitable man to spend some hours, some days, and some weeks with me, my family, and his family too. Actually, I don't want to fall into the same hole again like what i did in my previous relationship. It made me hurt. Well, i'm not trying to dramatize my story in past. Not hurt. But, at least I could feel a bit of happiness in a beautiful relationship. Ok, not beautiful. I know that every relationship has their own way, has their story, has their sadness, not always happiness in their relationship. Ok, i'll stop to debate about definitions of relationship with my own mind.

Back to the main topic. Soulmate. Some people say that being twenty or twenties is something hard. I do feel the same like everybody. Because, there are many questions which is always buzz in our ears, for example : "when will you get your master degree?", "when will you get married?", "when will you get the best job with good salary?", and also "what criteria to be your husband?do you try to get the best man?". Oh, my god, see? it's quiet hard to answer, not like exam or thesis defension at college. But, a question that i always find is "is there any criteria to be your husband or soulmate?". I'll answer: "Yes, I do have few criteria for someone who wants to be my soulmate".

I always wonder some criteria to be my future partner. He must be a good muslim to guide me as a good muslim too. He must be affectionate to his family, me, and my family. He must be smarter than me in every aspects. Or sometimes, I wonder that he could play the words in scrabble together with me and my future son or daughter. Sometimes, I wonder that he could take exercise together in every evening and every saturday-sunday morning. Sometimes, I wonder that he could spend our spare time by reading book or watching movie or cooking at home. Sounds wonderful, isn't it?

Oh, my.. what post i did write above, ok, for anyone who reads my blog, especially my this silly post. I beg you not to laugh while you're reading this silly post. Thank you!
